Going back to a more modern setting with 128-players maps and a revolutionary gameplay overhaul for the series, Battlefield 2042 seems to have taken the internet by storm. You can read all about it in our beta impressions. However, well-known Call of Duty and Battlefield leaker Tom Henderson, a.k.a TheLongSensation, claims that all is not quiet on the Eastern Front — I mean in the Battlefield 2042 development team.
According to two different anonymous sources from DICE speaking with Henderson, Battlefield 2042 is having a management issue that is impacting its development. They claimed the higher-ups are “not committed enough” to the project. Problems brought up to management fall on deaf ears, making issues that could have been solved earlier. They simply told the creative team to do specific instructions and encouraged them to create similar features to Modern Warfare 2019. One of the managers was described as a “yes man” while some others were coming from the Battlefront II remake which had its own sets of issues (big ones) at launch. The sources added that things have been terrible since the managers came.
But allegedly the developers only focused on the beta build date and either refused or ignored Henderson’s request on his other questions. According to Henderson’s sources themselves, the October beta build is a more recent build, from early-mid September. A huge number of fans who’ve got a taste of the game from the beta then are complaining about their experiences including the new Specialist system, removed features from the older games, and the confusing UI.
There might be too little time for DICE to fix most of the problems plaguing the full game that’s going to be released in just a few weeks on November 19. Even if EA’s other studios, like Ripple Effect Studios, EA Gothenburg, and Criterion Games have to put off their own projects and help out on Battlefield 2042 development.
