Sadly it sounds like Lando Calrissian won’t be featured in Star Wars 7: The Force Awakens. However, he may appear elsewhere.

Star Wars 7: The Force Awakens’ co-writer, Lawrence Kasdan, talked more about the film during a new interview with Vanity Fair. He gave us the status for Lando Calrissian in the new Star Wars trilogy.

Unfortunately, Kasdan said “there’s no Lando Calrissian in this movie” right now. This sounds like the cast is already full in Star Wars 7: The Force Awakens. However, Kasdan said Lando is not “finished in any way, shape, or form“.

The last part suggests Lando Calrissian may appear in movies after Star Wars 7: The Force Awakens. It’s possible he could appear in the eighth and ninth films instead. After all, the character was not in “A New Hope”, but appeared later in “The Empire Strikes Back” and “Return of the Jedi”.

Going back to Star Wars 7: The Force Awakens, Kasdan said he’s not a fan of “very long, bloated blockbusters“. It sounds like the movie will be a decent length without being too long. He could be alluding to Michael Bay’s Transformers movies and possibly the Hobbit trilogy.

It’s safe to say Star Wars 7: The Force Awakens will be around 2 hours long and not anything close to 3 hours…
