American professional basketball player for the Brooklyn Nets, Kyrie Irving, admits hurting the Jewish community and donates $500k to fight hate. The athlete promoted a film comprising anti-Semitic ideas, a topic making the headlines, no thanks to Ye.
It comes after the 30-year-old posted a link to “Hebrews to Negroes: Wake Up Black America!” last week. There were backlashes almost immediately; however, the basketball player stood by his actions.
A new development came up this Wednesday after the athlete and his team circulated a statement of apology. The statement included the generous monetary donation by the seven times NBA star.
Kyrie Irving had to admit to hurting the Jewish community and donate $500k in solidarity with combating hatred. He sounded remorseful in the released statement.
Two days after posting a link to an antisemitic film (that’s still up), here’s Kyrie Irving:
– Claiming that posting a link to something isn’t promoting it 🤔
– Playing the victim
– Accusing a journalist of “dehumanizing” him by simply asking about itpic.twitter.com/qGdDVO7awA

Many Feel Kyrie Irving’s Statement Can Be Better After Hurting Jewish Community and Donating $500k
As seen in the statement, Kyrie Irving disclosed, after hurting the Jewish community, that he opposes every form of oppression. He further disclosed that he stands strong with communities that are marginalized and impacted every day.
The Australian-born NBA star stated that he’s aware of the negative impact of his post on the Jewish community, and he assumes full responsibility for it. Irving admitted that he doesn’t believe everything said in the documentary, nor does it reflect his morals and principles.
He blamed his human nature for the mistake and disclosed that he intends to learn from all walks of life with an open mind and attentive ears. The star pleaded that he and his family didn’t mean to harm anyone, they wish to only be a beacon of truth and light.
Although Kyrie Irving admits hurting the Jewish community and donates $500k, several people still feel it’s not enough. They believe that the star athlete didn’t outrightly apologize because he didn’t exactly say he was “sorry” or “apologize.”
Brooklyn, home to Irving’s NBA club, is home to one of the country’s largest Jewish populations. So, people feel the athlete can do more in his apology.
For the donation, his team is adding an extra $500k totaling $1 million. Per TMZ, the organization will divide the cash among “causes and organizations that work to eradicate hate and intolerance in our communities.”
