Kurtwood Smith, best known for playing the strict Red Forman from That ’70s Show, seems pretty eager to return to the fun. Through his Twitter account, the 78-year-old actor shared a peek into the upcoming show with its initial logo and pilot’s front page. Kurtwood Smith is set to reprise his role in the upcoming That ’90s Show, where he will step into the grandfather role alongside his television wife, Debra Jo Rupp.

“That ’90s Pilot” Shows the Return of the Formans

That ’90s Show acts as a spin-off from the popular That ’70s Show that initially premiered in 1998. Back then, audiences mostly followed the coming-of-age story of Eric Forman and his close circle of friends. But That ’70s Show also focused on Kurtwood Smith and Debra Jo Rupp’s relationship as Red and Kitty Forman, respectively, who acted as the voices of reason for the younger characters.

Now, That ’90s Show will transport us two decades later to 1995, with the daughter of Eric Forman and Donna Pinciotti, Leia Forman, spending a summer at her grandparents. We’re not sure what to expect, but with this tweet from Smith, we can look forward to a few things: “Red and Kitty, teenagers, grunge rock… let’s gooooo! #That90sShow @netflix”. We can also spot Bonnie Turner, Terry Turner, and Lindsay Turners’ names under the “Story By” line.

Additionally, the cast was just revealed this week, with Callie Haverda announced as Leia Forman, along with other teenagers that will be joining the spin-off series. Some characters from the original show are rumored to make cameo appearances. If Leia Forman is the main teenage character that the show will be focusing on, then we’re bound to see Topher Grace and Laura Prepon pop up at some point.
