Konami has long since been actively working on how to proceed with the Metal Gear property. After an abysmal spin-off, Metal Gear Survive, the company has remained silent on other projects. Yet, Konami is not willing to part with the Metal Gear franchise. Except, many fans have been upset with the current availability of the games. As the series has just passed its 35th anniversary, many lamented over the series origins being unplayable by current standards. Locked on a depreciated console, the original MSX Metal Gear has been quite difficult to play legally for many years. While these games have gone delisted for years, many have longed for new releases of old titles. In celebration of the 35th anniversary, Konami is preparing for new releases. Announced on Konami’s Japanese Twitter, older Metal Gear games will be relisted for purchase again soon.

When Will Konami Relist Classic Metal Gear Games For Purchase?
While the details on these games are sparse, it’s a good sign of things to come. Konami for a long time has neglected the Metal Gear series. Despite listing older versions of the Metal Gear Solid series on PC last year, the company has done little since. Yet while these releases were still old ports, fans have been wishing for a remaster for a long time. The rumors of a brand new Metal Gear Solid have laid dormant for quite some time. Yet, many have believed that it’s possible a full remaster of the original Metal Gear Solid could be in the works. Seeing as the franchise could benefit from a full retelling of the classic PlayStation title, word has yet to be definitive on any actual projects.
