Hideo Kojima loves to tease projects to create some hype before an official reveal, and it seems the next title being teased might just be Death Stranding 2. Kojima tweeted a cryptic image that teases the sequel to Death Stranding showing up at The Game Awards. Geoff Keighley replied to the tweet with a GIF that read “hmm, very interesting”, pretty much confirming that the next Kojima project will be at The Game Awards next week.

The image tweeted by Kojima shows three logos of fictional companies, with the one in the center being an umbrella, as Fragile does in Death Stranding. The first is the “Automated Public Assistance Company,” and the third one looks like an octopus wielding spears.

Kojima’s caption reads, “Start a new journey,” possibly referring to Death Stranding 2. Of course, the game has not officially been announced yet, but the lead actor Norman Reedus accidentally confirmed during an interview that “we just started the second one.”

Death Stranding 2 At The Game Awards

The purpose of this teaser is probably to get fans thinking about what it could be that they will be getting in the Game Awards. Theories about what these logos could mean have already started floating all over the internet.

One of the biggest theories going around is that players will be taking control of Sam again (Norman Reedus’ character) and taking him out into the ocean, where we will meet some sort of Hydra or perhaps a new organization. This makes sense when you take into account that the codename for Death Stranding 2 was Ocean, as reported in October.

Another theory suggests that Death Stranding 2 will be set in the future with a rebuilt America, and the logos in the teaser show the new government entities that have taken control. We won’t have to wait for too long to find out what the teaser means, but fans are definitely putting on their thinking pants.
