Ah, the Kingsman series. Who knew that the world needed a quirky, satirical, slightly graphic James Bond rip-off until it appeared. The arrival of the first movie in 2014 made a big splash in theaters. The cast was star-studded, with Colin Firth, Mark Strong, Michael Caine, and Samuel L. Jackson as the villain. It even had a cameo from Mark Hamill! It quickly became one of the best films by director Matthew Vaughn. It’s been a long time since the sequel came out, and hope had been lost for a Kingsman trilogy. However, after multiple delays and worries since Disney acquired 20th Century Fox, good news has arrived. Kingsman 3 will begin filming in 2022!
Where Did We Leave the Kingsmen Last?
Kingsman: The Golden Circle came out over four years ago. This movie was more climactic than the last. With the majority of the Kingsman ranks defeated due to a concerted attack, only a small handful are left. This leaves us with Taron Egerton’s Eggsy, Mark Strong’s Merlin, and Colin Firth’s Gallahad. Fighting against impossible odds, they come to meet The Statesman, a sister secret service agency in America. Of course, this brought in even more celebrity spotlights. Now we had Pedro Pascal, Channing Tatum, Halle Berry, and even Jeff Bridges! Through their help, the world is saved, and Eggsy gets his happy ending with his princess girlfriend. It’s a pretty finite conclusion, but it seems there’s more to tell.
Where Will Manners Taketh These Men Next?
The Kingsman trilogy has been in production for a while. According to protagonist Taron Egerton, a script has been ready since 2019. Of course, that doesn’t mean the series has been doing nothing since. A prequel to the series, simply titled The King’s Man, is set to release next week. It is expected to plant some seeds for the upcoming trilogy finale. Not much is known for Kingsman 3 besides the fact that Taron Egerton will be reprising Eggsy. Director Vaughn does say it will be an unexpected journey and confirms it as the last for Eggsy and his mentor. Just like James Bond, the super spies of the world can never rest.
Kingsman 3 is expected to officially begin filming in late 2022. In the meantime, we’ll have to be patient and respectful to the production team. After all, Manners Maketh Man.
