Sora and co. are back in the upcoming KH DLC, Kingdom Hearts III: ReMind.

Revealed in a recently leaked trailer, this story-expanding DLC is due out on January, 3rd 2020.

As well as continuing the third game’s plotline (and the series’ tradition of really odd titles), Kingdom Hearts III: ReMind is notable for bringing back returning Final Fantasy characters. The likes of Leon, Aerith, and Yuffie are present in the reveal after fan complaints of their absence from the game proper.

Something else that is surprising is the reveal of playable Kairi. Previously, the character has provided nothing more than a passive role in the series, a character for Sora to rescue. Therefore, to see what kind of exclusive abilities Kairi possesses will prove interesting.

As well as the new story content, Kingdom Hearts III: ReMind is coming packed with new game modes. These include a ‘black code’ mode, which allows you to tweak the game’s difficulty, a photo mode, slideshow mode while Fast Pass mode allows you to get through battles easier – essentially one-shot-killing enemies.

The photo mode allows the player to use characters (including protagonists and antagonists) to create a picture, often to hilarious effect. They can also use various props to help make a unique picture. Meanwhile, slideshow mode allows you to zoom in on your pictures and add background music.

The modes were revealed at a Kingdom Hearts III orchestra event in Osaka Japan in November. Only time will tell how well-received these new features will be and what they bring to the game.

Kingdom Hearts III was released earlier this year to generally positive reviews. The PlayStation 4 version alone has garnered an 83% rating on Metacritic. Although titled III, it follows countless other KH spin-offs. It is merely the third main chapter in Sora’s story – with potentially more to come.
