After almost 13 years of waiting, Kingdom Hearts 3 is a short while away. With the release right around the corner, game director Tetsuya Nomura took to Twitter to reveal the final trailer for Kingdom Hearts 3. The full trailer can be viewed below.
This new trailer is mainly story focused but still made some room at the beginning to show off some of the Disney worlds. Toy Story, Monsters Inc., Tangled, Olympus Coliseum, Frozen, Pirates of the Caribbean, and Big Hero 6 and Hundred Acre Woods themed worlds are all present in the first half of the trailer. Additionally, Sora can be seen summoning iconic characters like Remi from Ratatouille and Stitch from Lilo and Stitch to aide him in battles. A new mini-game was also shown that seems to be some sort of dancing game.
One of the more important, but rather unsurprising reveals that came from this new trailer is who the second playable character will be. Nomura promised that there will be multiple playable characters in Kingdom Hearts 3 but it had yet to be revealed up to this point. Now we know that Riku, Sora’s best friend from the previous titles will be that other character. He can briefly be seen fighting off heartless in the realm of darkness.
The second half of the trailer focuses more on the Kingdom Hearts original characters. Axel (Lea), Kairi, Xemnas, Ansem the Wise, Saix (Isa) and King Mickey are all shown as key players as the story seems to be ramping up towards its finale. We also get a hint at Roxas, Xion, and Ventus’ return, all characters who are either presumed dead or missing up to this point. Kingdom Hearts tends to like to bring back characters who have died so it should be no surprise if the aforementioned characters come back in Kingdom Hearts 3.
