The Key & Peele fan-favorite character, Mr. Garvey, is back as Keegan-Michael Key reprises the role for a Paramount+ ad. The company shared the skit with the substitute teacher on Twitter (seen below), which will go live on the Thanksgiving NFL game tomorrow (November 24) for a 60-second slot.

In Key & Peele, the character would mispronounce students’ names as he tried to take attendance. In the Paramount+ ad, Keegan-Michael Key is in another situation of being a substitute teacher who mispronounces the names of characters from Paramount and Nickelodeon shows like Dora from Dora the Explorer being called “D’rah,” Krumm from Aaahh!!! Real Monsters as “Karoom,” and Blue from Blue’s Clues as “Bee-Louie.” The students correcting their substitute teacher infuriates him as he tries to convince them that they have their names wrong. The only one falling in line with the teacher is NFL player Aaron Donald, who the teacher called “A-A-ron.”

Keegan-Michael Key reprised his Key & Peele role in the Paramount+ ad is a major throwback for fans since the show ended in 2015 after a five-season run. In that time, it had plenty of memorable moments that have been turned into memes, earned two Emmys, and seen characters be brought on for other shows and events, like Key being Barack Obama’s anger translator Luther for the 2015 White House Correspondents’ Dinner to show a comedic side of the former president as he poked fun at himself.
