It can’t be said that Kanye West doesn’t have ambition, not only did he try to become the leader of the free world, he also attempted to make a game with Nintendo. I’m not sure which dream was the most ambitious. The news of this failed collaboration was revealed by former Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime on the Talking Games With Reggie & Harold Podcast. Here, Reggie explained that during E3 Kanye ended up talking to the legendary Shigeru Miyamoto, assumingly talking all things gaming, and pitching his ideas.

Whatever was said, it turned into a formal meeting with Nintendo which Fils-Aime called interesting, but ultimately led to nothing. It was clear that Kanye West had a passion for video games, but Nintendo simply had too much on their hands at the time, much to the relief/disappointment of fans, depending on which side of the fence you fall.

Due to the busy workload at Nintendo, Reggie had to deliver the bad news to both Kayne, and Kim Kardashian, who was present at the meeting. He had this to say regarding it all:

He also added that he informed Kanye he wouldn’t want to work with Nintendo because they are tough, hard, and just want to push for the very best content, and so would not be the type of partner he would want to work with. Kayne then stated this is the exact reason why they would be the perfect partner. Without knowing what the game would have been it’s hard to say whether the fact it didn’t go anywhere is a shame or not. Regardless, it’s always great to hear someone has a passion for games no matter who they are. Who knows, maybe we’ll see something happen in the future.
