Justin Jefferson, wide receiver of the Minnesota Vikings, will be the first NFL player to feature in Fortnite. His signature in-game dance, known as The Griddy dance, will be included in the Item Shop on Wednesday, April 28th. He will also be the first NFL player to have a Locker Bundle, which will include a special outfit, Back Bling, the “Get Griddy” (the name of the emote dance),  a weathered gold pickaxe, and the Signature Shuffle emote.

The Good and the Bad

With this announcement, however, comes some controversy with NFL and Fortnite fans, as Jefferson is not the original creator of the dance.  Allen Daivs, who is the actual creator of the dance, is getting paid for his moves according to Schefter. Davis is also open to and talking with Jefferson’s team for a possible collaboration in the near future, and has since posted online tutorials for those that want to dance along with him.

Jefferson took to Twitter to voice his excitement for the oncoming feature. According to the official website for the Vikings, Jefferson started playing Fortnite with his friends in 2017. Since then, he does not play as much anymore due to his busy schedule. Along with still being a vocal fan for the game, he has also taken part in a partnership game with 40 fans and Verizon. Before this announcement, he had been working on getting an in-game dance for a while.

Fortnite Has One More Announcement

At the same time as this announcement, Fortnite announced that soccer star Neymar is also receiving his own in-game bundle on Tuesday, April 27th. Along with the other cosmetic and Emote features, players who purchase the Neymar bundle will also be able to compete in the Neymar Jr. Cup and have the opportunity to win a custom-designed soccer boot.
