Everybody knows the name Justice League when it comes to DC Comics, but there is also a lesser known team known as Justice League Dark. This team of mystical characters includes a lot of fan favorites and a movie has been in the works for awhile. Guillermo del Toro departed the project as director a little while ago, but the Justice League Dark movie is back on track with a producer and estimated shooting date.

According to Tracking Board, the movie that has sometimes been called Dark Universe has found a producer in Scott Rudin, who will be overseeing the film, with del Toro still helping out in that same fashion. In addition, they say that this movie is a priority for Warner Bros., with it scheduled to film at some point in 2016.

The report also stated what we expected, the fact that the team in the Justice League Dark movie will be in the same universe as the rest of the DC Extended Universe, which is said to be similar to the approach taken with Guardians of the Galaxy and the Avengers, with some intermixing going on later.

As a result, this will certainly not be involved with the ongoing TV universe, where we’ve already seen the one confirmed member of this movie, Constantine. The rest of the members are not confirmed, but it almost has to include Zatanna, Swamp Thing, and Deadman as well.

Depending on when in 2016 they are aiming to film this movie, we really can’t predict when an announcement of more details for Justice League Dark will surface, but I would assume we’re looking at a 2017 release for this one.
