If there’s one thing movie producers love to market nowadays, it’s nostalgia – and the Powers-That-Be behind the upcoming Jurassic World: Dominion are doing this to seemingly no end.

Indeed, not only are three of the original heroes from Jurassic Park returning – Alan Grant, Ellie Sattler, and Ian Malcolm – but the latest movie in the franchise is reportedly bringing back yet another character from the original film. And who is this character, you might ask? Why, it’s Lewis Dodgson, of course!

And who is Lewis Dodgson, many of you might still ask? Well, he’s the guy in the red shirt at the beginning of the first film who conspired with Dennis Nedry to smuggle the Dinosaur embryos in a fake can of Barbasol shaving cream. Unless you’ve watched the movie multiple times over, he’s easy to forget.

This news broke through Collider, who have also revealed an interesting tidbit about the character’s status in Jurassic World: Dominion. By the time of the film, he is now the CEO of Biosyn Genetics, which was a rival company to John Hammond’s InGen. Although not made abundantly clear in the movie, the original novel depicts him as a doctor within Biosyn which explains why he’s reached the top by Dominion.

Needless to say, given that the character’s original actor Cameron Thor is currently undergoing a six-year prison sentence for sexual assault, he won’t reprise the role. Instead, Campbell Scott (The Amazing Spider-Man, Big Night) will replace him as Lewis Dodgson.

This isn’t the first time that the Jurassic World sub-series of films has reprised a minor character from the first movie and enlarged their role. Just look at Dr. Henry Wu – played by BD Wong – who was barely in Jurassic Park and became a major antagonist in the 2015 reboot of the franchise as well as the catalyst behind the events in that film and its sequel.
