Another month has gone by and the PS4 is still the best selling console in North America. Sony has been on top for several months now.
As reported by VentureBeat, NPD Group has confirmed that the Sony PS4 was the best selling console in the month of June 2016. The winning streak for the console has been going on since November 2015.
October 2015 was the last time the Xbox One console came out on top. This is thanks to the release of Halo 5: Guardians. Ever since that month though, Sony has been sitting on top of the throne.
It’s possible the release of the Xbox One S console in August might break the streak. This is because the console will be the cheapest 4K player out in the market. Other 4K media players are far more expensive so the Xbox One S might help people feel comfortable with the new format.
It’s interesting to note that VentureBeat speculates that console gaming spending will be low for July 2016. They feel gamers are too distracted to play anything else outside of Pokemon Go. It’s a fair statement to make considering there have been no major game releases out this month.
