In addition to these theaters in Kyoto and Miyagi, Japan (locations in the film) plus more will hold midnight screenings on opening day December 24. This makes Jujitsu Kaisen 0 one of the few films to have midnight screenings in Japan since the pandemic. Some of the participating theaters will also begin offering tickets for these screenings on December 21.
The Leading Up to the Jujutsu Kaisen 0 Film
The film is based on Gege Akutami’s Jujitsu Kaisen 0: Tokyo Prefectural Jujutsu High School manga prequel story. Once again, Studio Mappa will be animating with TOHO behind the distribution. Jujitsu Kaisen 0 will have a novel adaptation that will debut at the same time as the film on December 24.
Akutami launched the original story of Jujitsu Kaisen in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine in March 2018. Since then the manga has had over 60 million physical and digital copies in circulation. He originally said in February that the manga will “probably” end in the next two years, although he also stated that he’s not confident in that statement.
Viz Media published the first three chapters of Jujitsu Kaisen 0 in English with Japan. This was a part of the companys’ Jump Start Initiative. In 2018, when Viz then switched to its new Shonen Jump model, the company then began publishing new chapters of the manga digitally.
The Jujitsu Kaisen 0 film will open on December 24. The Jujitsu Kaisen anime is available to watch on Crunchyroll, Funimation, and HBO Max.
