A.X.E. Judgement Day is slowly engulfing the Marvel Universe. The event, which pits the X-Men, Eternals, and Avengers against one another, kicks off next month. In preparation, Marvel has announced three one-shots from A.X.E. Judgement Day writer Kieron Gillen. These single issues will explore the judgements of three central characters. Plus, they will set things up for the event’s finale.

A.X.E. Judgment Day One-Shots

While A.X.E. Judgement Day is only a six-issue epic event, it will tie in various ongoing series and tie-ins. Now, Marvel has announced that that will include three new one-shots from Kieron Gillen. These one-shots will bridge the gap between the penultimate and final issues.

Gillen is teaming up with a trio of artists from the Marvel Universe for these one-shots. They include Frederico Vicentini, Francesco Mobili, and Pasqual Ferry. Each issue will focus on a key player from one of the teams involved in the A.X.E. Judgement Day event. Iron Man, Jean Grey, and Ajax are spotlighted in the issues as they embark on a complex mission. Of course, that mission will involve infiltrating the Progenitor Celestial and shutting it down for good. Of course, these missions will not come without struggle or consequence.

What Is Each Issue About?

Up first is A.X.E.: Avengers #1. This one-shot will strip Iron Man of his armor. While Tony Stark has spent his life building suits to protect himself and the world, this time, he is entering a whole new suit. It happens that that suit is attached to a Celestial with the power to eliminate all life on Earth.

Next up is Jean Grey in A.X.E.: X-Men #1. This one-shot examines Jean’s relationship with the Phoenix Force. It will finally delve into the mystery of why and how Jean Grey and this celestial force are connected.

Finally, A.X.E.: Eternals #1 tackles Ajax’s past. Specifically, it examines her interactions with the Celestials and how she plans to lead the Eternals through this challenge.

The first of these one-shots is on sale on September 28. The other two will be available sometime in October.
