The Saturday Night Live (SNL) writing trio Please Don’t Destroy will join forces with Judd Apatow. Universal Pictures has acquired the buddy comedy film, which Judd Apatow will produce. The SNL writing trio Ben Marshall, John Higgins, and Martin Herlihy wrote the script for the film. The plot follows three friends who live and work together, who sporadically decide to go on a treasure hunt. The SNL writing trio met at New York University and were hired as writers for Season 47 of the sketch comedy show. They’ve written digital shorts like “Three Sad Virgins” for the show. Marshall, Higgins, and Herlihy are executive producers for the Universal Pictures buddy comedy film. Paul Briganti is directing the film. He is currently working on a series with Tina Fey and Broadway Video for Peacock. Production for Please Don’t Destroy and the Judd Apatow-backed film has already underway in North Carolina.

Judd Apatow is Lending His Help to Up and Coming Writers

This is not the first time the Hollywood director has helped rising talent. He helped launch the career of Jonah Hill, Kumail Nanjiani, and Pete Davidson. Now Apatow is working with Please Don’t Destroy for the Universal Pictures buddy comedy film. He’ll be producing it under Apatow Productions with Mosaic’s Jimmy Miller. Judd Apatow has had his hand in the films Trainwreck, The Big Sick, and Knocked Up. In addition to the Universal Pictures buddy comedy film with Please Don’t Destroy, Apatow is producing Bros starring Billy Eichner. He has been able to make films with his talent that have gained critical acclaim. Most recently, Apatow released the Netflix film The Bubble, which starred Pedro Pascal, Karen Gillan, his wife Leslie Mann, and his daughter Iris Apatow.

Fans of Apatow and Please Don’t Destroy will have to wait until August 18th, 2023, to see the result of their work.
