Jonah Jameson, the character who outed Spider-Man’s identity in Far From Home, is set to appear in more Marvel Cinematic Universe movies, confirms actor J.K. Simmons.

According to Comicbook.com, J.K. Simmons has revealed that he has already filmed his next appearance as Spider-Man’s J. Jonah Jameson. The actor also told SiriusXM that “ there is a future for J. Jonah Jameson after a several year hiatus. Though he didn’t mention what project the character is part of, J.K. Simmons said his next MCU appearance already been filmed.

In the comics, Jameson is the editor of the Daily Bugle and is firmly against Spider-Man.  Simmons played Jameson for all three films in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man trilogy opposite Tobey Maguire. While he has voiced the character in several animated adaptations, his last live-action appearance was Spider-Man 3.

However, he surprised his fans last year with an appearance in one of the end credit scenes of Spider-Man: Far From Home; with Jameson breaking the news that Peter Parker (Tom Holland) is Spider-Man and that he’s suspected of killing Mysterio (Jake Gyllenhaal). Simmons reprisal of Jameson was one of the most exciting moments of an already interesting film.

Given the popularity of the character, and the fact that Jameson is primarily a Spider-Man character, it’s easy to think that Simmons will be in the MCU’s forthcoming  Spider-Man 3. But Simmons’ statement to SiriusXM, he has already shot his scenes for the MCU project he’s talking about, Spider-Man 3 -which was originally scheduled to begin shooting in July but seen further delays due to the coronavirus pandemic – hasn’t begun production yet.

One potential scenario could see Jameson in Sony’s Marvel movies,  which take place within the Spider-Man universe and the MCU, as shown through Morbius’ trailer. Another possibility is Venom: Let There Be Carnage. While it’s still likely Jameson – if we assume that Simmons has pre-shot his scenes for the project – will appear in the third MCU Spider-Man film, it’s all speculation for now.
