Spider-Man: No Way Home’s first trailer currently has the most global views in its first 24-hours, surpassing a record previously held by Avengers: Endgame. Safe to say, there’s a lot of people who are hyped to see what Sony and Marvel have planned for the next installment of the franchise, and why shouldn’t they be? With all of the rumors surrounding the movie regarding a live-action Spider-Verse and what Sony has already confirmed, this is a big deal for the franchise.
In an interview with Empire, director Jon Watts talked about the grand scale of Spider-Man: No Way Home and drew a comparison to Avengers: Endgame. :
While that may sound a little hyperbolic, this comparison does make a bit of sense. Avengers: Endgame was filled with fan service and other nods to past MCU movies along with being the finale to the long-running Infinity Saga. By all accounts, Spider-Man: No Way Home is looking to do that as well with previous versions of Spidey characters popping up in the film while also acting as some sort of finale to Tom Holland’s “Homecoming” trilogy.
Star Tom Holland spoke with Empire alongside Jon Watts, adding that he wasn’t sure that Spider-Man: No Way Home would work due to its insane premise.
In other Sony/Marvel news, Sony recently added two new untitled Marvel films to its slate in 2023. You can read more about that here.
