A five-minute deleted scene from The Batman featuring the Joker (Barr Keoghan) has been released, revealing the character’s entire face. This is one of the most disfigured and creepy-looking Jokers we have ever seen, bringing to mind the distorted and scarred face of Jeremiah Valeska from the Gotham finale. This particular Joker has swollen features and scars, including a scar from a slash at his right cheek reminiscent of Heath Ledger’s take on the character in The Dark Knight. He’s also got large patches of hair missing from his scalp. According to Variety, Matt Reeves created this version as a character cursed with a disease that gives him this grotesque appearance.

Batman Wants Answers in Joker Deleted Scene

Collider reports that this Joker deleted scene was the most recent prize for solving the puzzle at rataalada.com, a website promoting the film that is made to seem like it was designed by the Riddler. The scene features Batman (Robert Pattinson) visiting the Joker in Arkham and putting files before him to understand the Riddler’s motivations. It’s clear they’ve already started developing their legendarily complex relationship at this point. This is our most up-close look at Matt Reeves’ Joker, who we only got a blurry glimpse of in the movie.

Will We Get More Joker?

As anticipation for The Batman was growing, people everywhere wondered if the Joker would show up in this new series of films and TV spin-offs. At one point, there was a campaign for Kristen Stewart (Pattinson’s ex and former Twilight co-star) to play the character, though Stewart did not seem all that eager to take such a role. Barry Keoghan was cast in the film in 2020, but his role remained a mystery until now. Matt Reeves had intended to cut all of Keoghan’s footage from the film, but he opted to include the interaction with the Riddler at the end. Whether we will see this character again is uncertain, but he just may pop up in the Arkham series spin-off if Reeves decides to include him.
