Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure has had, for lack of a better word, a bizarre trip through the anime community. Created in the 1980s around the time of Dragonball, it had more of a cult following for many years. Called Jojo or JJBA, it had a special place for the small group of worldwide fans it had. However, in the last ten years, it has exploded into popularity. Now, with five parts already animated and another on the way, there’s nothing but good tidings and hype for JJBA. They’ve even won an award for unique character design. Since the August live stream, not much has been clear about Jojo Part 6, known as Stone Ocean. The one thing we did know was that it was coming in late 2021. Well, a new series of trailers and announcements have given us some nice info.
Netflix Will Take the First Shot at Stone Ocean’s Breakout
For those that have been paying attention to recent anime seasons, it doesn’t come as a shock that some shows are streaming direct to Netflix now. Both Komi Can’t Communicate and Blue Period have made exclusive streaming deals with the service. Netflix has taken to weekly releases with these anime, a new trend of theirs. That said, Netflix has secured exclusive rights to stream the first twelve episodes of Part 6 on December 1. Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure is no stranger to Netflix since the previous five parts have been systematically added over the years. Though streaming for JJBA will be exclusive to Netflix for now, it’s also been confirmed that Japanese TV channels will start airing Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure: Stone Ocean in January. A regular anime release schedule will be set from there.
Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure Part 6 Ties It All Together
Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure has always been somewhat scattered with its story-telling. Not every part is directly linear to the previous. Nevertheless, they’re all connected. Over time, three things have become main events: Stands, the Joestar bloodline, and some form of trouble from DIO. Stone Ocean has all three of these in kind, with the main character Jolyne shown to have a string-based Stand called Stone Free. The upcoming part promises to bring an end to the decades-long battle between DIO and the Joestar line. Though it may be the end to one of the largest plot points of the series, Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure isn’t going anywhere after this. There are still two entire parts left, and another in the works.
