For the first time since 2003, legendary Chinese action movie director, John Woo, is returning to the American film industry with an interesting idea. His upcoming film, Silent Night, will star Joel Kinnaman in an exciting and loud action-packed adventure that will not have a single line of dialogue. According to a report from Deadline, the story in Silent Night follows an average father who will journey into the underworld to avenge the death of his son.

Joining lead actor Joel Kinnaman and director John Woo for his return to American film are several producers from John Wick. These producers include Basil Iwanyk, Erica Lee, Christian Mercuri, and Lori Tilkin. Other producers on Silent Night include Ruzanna Kegeyan and Joe Gatta from Capstone Entertainment Group, who are likely to finance the film.

The idea of John Woo returning to American film is exciting not only for film fans but for buyers as well. Woo is considered by many to be one of the best action directors in the world. He first arrived in Hollywood after directing Hong Kong action films like A Better Tomorrow, The Killer, Bullet in the Head, and Hard Boiled. Within the American movie market, Woo directed a series of iconic action films, including Broken Arrow, Face/Off, and Mission Impossible II.

However, Woo left American film after 2003’s Paycheck performed poorly at the box office and was dismissed by critics. After some time off, Woo began making movies again in his home country, China. Since Paycheck, Woo has directed Red Cliff: Part I and Part II, Reign of Assassins, The Crossing, The Crossing 2, and Manhunt.
