From the Associated Press, he is not sold on the idea, but it is possible for the 90-year-old composer after working in the film business for six decades.
Ford has not publicly said he will stop acting after reprising his role as Indiana Jones. If John Williams decides to retire, it is up in the air as he decides how he wants to spend his time. Since some films, like Star Wars, take up so much time, it has become “a long commitment” for him to take on.
John Williams May Retire after Indiana Jones 5 and a Successful Career
Even if he does retire, John Williams is one of the most successful composers in the history of film. He has done beloved films, some of which became huge franchises, like Jurassic Park, Indiana Jones, E.T., Star Wars, Jaws, and Harry Potter. He has won Oscars for Fiddler on the Roof, Jaws, Star Wars, E.T., and Schindler’s List. He has been nominated over 40 times at the Academy Awards.
Indiana Jones 5 will be directed by James Mangold (Logan) and written by Jez and John-Henry Butterworth (Ford v Ferrari). Ford returns with newcomers Phoebe Waller-Bride and Mads Mikkelsen. It is expected to release in theaters on June 30th, 2023.
