“It’s a new dawn for Romero Games,” the studio said in the job ad. “We’re working with a major publisher to develop John Romero’s next shooter: an all-new FPS with an original, new IP. Our team is expanding, and we’re looking for talented people for all positions and at all experience levels, particularly those with Unreal Engine 5 game experience.”
Romero Games is hiring for senior roles in graphics and multiplayer programming, as well as in level design, art, and animation. Due to the new game’s early development, we don’t know much about it yet. However, it should be noted that the ideal experience listed in the job posting for the lead-level designer is “operating the live phase of a game as a service.” The Romero Games’ developers have reportedly held major leadership positions, including in Far Cry, Watch Dogs, Forza, Sniper Elite, The Division, and Crysis franchises.
On the other hand, the latest title of Romero Games is the strategy role-playing game Empire of Sin. Released by Paradox Interactive in 2020, that game was set in Chicago during the 1920s Prohibition era. Brenda Romero led the Empire of Sin. Let’s see what John Romero’s new ‘Doom’ will be like.
