John recently reminisced on his relationship with Kanye during a chat with journalist Kara Swisher on her podcast On With Kara Swisher.
The All of Me crooner recalled that the Ye he knew when collaborating on the rapper’s The College Dropout album and his own Get Lifted is different from the divisive and controversial figure he is today. He pointed out that Kanye West has changed negatively.
John spoke regarding the recent antisemitic and anti-Black diatribes and statements Kanye made repeatedly in the last few weeks.
However, the singer thought that the change in Kanye’s attitude might be due to his mom Donda’s death in 2007.
John Legend Is Worried About Kanye
The Beauty and the Beast crooner added that he and many of Kanye’s friends are worried about the rapper.
When asked if he was doing anything to help the fashion designer in any way personally, the songwriter declined. He explained that he and Kanye fell out a while ago, but those close to him are on their toes.
Meanwhile, the Minefields singer was also concerned about the consequences of anti-semitism and anti-blackness, especially from a public figure.
He particularly spoke about the result of anti-semitism and anti-blackness for centuries. The singer is worried that it could instigate hate and harm and cause many deaths all over again.
Regarding Kanye seeking forgiveness, John believed that receiving forgiveness does not exempt him from the consequences of his actions.
John Legend and Kanye West were friends for many years, starting when they were new in the industry. It is quite unfortunate that they fell out, but hopefully, Kanye’s other friends can help him get the help he needs.
