Joe Penna, director of sci-fi films like Stowaway and Release, has been officially chosen to direct Trespasser, a new sci-fi thriller film from Endeavor Content. The film was first put in development with Endeavor Content in December of 2018 and is based on a graphic novel published a year earlier.

Trespasser was first picked up by producer Jason Fuchs and scriptwriter Gabe Hobson in December 2018. Fuchs bears a colorful history as an actor, writer, and director alike; he’s starred in IT Chapter Two (2019), The Passage (2019), and La La Land (2018). As a writer, Fuchs’ credits include Wonder Woman (2017) and Ice Age: Continental Drift (2012), while he’s served as a producer on IT Chapter Two and the upcoming adaptation of Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy.

What We Know About Joe Penna and ‘Trespasser’

As a director, Joe Penna is no stranger to sci-fi movies or thrillers, with two of his biggest credits being Stowaway (2021), which follows an astronaut crew threatened by an unplanned passenger aboard their vessel, and Arctic (2018), the story of a man (Mads Mikkelsen) forced to survive in harsh arctic conditions after a harrowing plane crash.

Aside from Trespasser, some of Joe Penna’s other projects include Release, a 2020 thriller about a group of people dealing with unfinished business in the face of a growing pandemic, and Turning Point (2015), a short film that follows a woman named Victoria (Jade Harlow) as she’s exposed to a deadly disease and forced to survive the night alone.

Specific details regarding the on-screen adaptation for Trespasser are currently being kept under wraps. Still, it has been confirmed that the project will be produced by Endeavor Content, the same company behind The Twelve, Bring On the Dancing Horses, and Headhunters, among others. Jason Fuchs, Alixandra Fuchs, and Brad Fuller will serve as producers for Trespasser, along with executive producer Alex Ginno.
