Dancing in a scene of a non-musical can latch on to fans, particularly content creators on TikTok. One recent one was the dance scene in Wednesday that Jenna Ortega performed that blew up the internet. Last night (January 10) at the Golden Globes red carpet, she spoke to Entertainment Tonight to deliver her criticisms of it.
The scene in question is from episode four, Woe What a Night. Choreographed by Jenna Ortega, the dance scene in Wednesday was directed by Tim Burton. Some of the moves were improvised, and between what was planned and not, she constantly thinks about it, even if it keeps her up at night.
“That was one of the scenes I stay awake at night thinking about because I thought there was so much that I should have done and could have done.”
Jenna Ortega thinks about how Wednesday dance could be improved
The song choice for the disco-themed episode of the murder mystery, the leading star danced to Goo Goo Muck by The Cramps. Since TikTok has taken it over, fans have recreated the scene to a slew of different songs, including Lady Gaga’s Bloody Mary. Currently, on TikTok, searching for the dance sees 8.8 million views. Some views are in that range of going above it.
The scene was harder than it seemed. As Jenna Ortega showed off her dance skills in Wednesday, she had battled COVID. She told NME how it was “awful to film” the scene that blew up the already popular Addams Family series.
Maybe she can make the right scene in her head with the thoughts of how it could be improved with a season 2 on the way. The show became a massive hit, becoming one of the biggest English-speaking shows in Netflix history. To prepare for it, you can currently watch the first season on the platform.
