Horror movies rejoice as Scream 6 will be the most violent entry in the series, according to Jenna Ortega (You) when speaking with Entertainment Tonight on the red carpet of the MTV Movie & TV Awards.

“Ghostface gets a lot more intimidating,” Ortega said. “I just read part of the script, and it just gets more and more gory, and I think this is probably the most aggressive and violent version of Ghostface we’ve ever seen, which I think would be really fun to shoot.”

Scream 6 will be bringing survivors, like Jenna Ortega’s character, from the last movie back into the fold for another encounter with a masked killer. While the horror star will get to rejoin her castmates from the fifth movie, simply titled Scream, she will get to join a lead from a previous entry, Hayden Panettiere, from the fourth film. When asked about the return of Kirby, Ortega shares her excitement.

“She definitely has been one of my favorite characters in the Scream franchise for a very long time, so the fact that character, you know, gets to come back and redeem herself is really exciting.”

When it comes to legacy characters coming back for the sixth film in the series, Courtney Cox will make a return. It is unknown is Neve Campbell will reprise her role or not. Plenty of theories have circled online, and Ortega claimed to only know about Cox’s return.

The trio of women will be joined by returning cast members Melissa Barrera (In the Heights), Jasmin Savoy Brown (Yellowjackets), and Mason Gooding (Booksmart). Directing duo Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett are returning to helm the film.

When it comes to new faces, Dermot Mulroney (My Best Friend’s Wedding) has recently been announced to join the blood-filled madness.

Scream 6 was ordered shortly after the release of the latest film due to it making a killing at the box office by grossing $140 million worldwide. The next entry hits theaters on March 31, 2023.
