Fargo star Jason Schwartzman has been cast in the Hunger Games prequel, The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes. He joins the heavy lineup of stars with Tom Blyth (Billy the Kid), Rachel Zegler (West Side Story), Josh Andrés Rivera (West Side Story), Hunter Schafer (Euphoria), Jerome Lance, Ashley Liao (Fuller House), Knox Gibson, Mackenzie Lansing (Mare of Easttown), Aamer Husain, Nick Benson, Laurel Marsden (Ms. Marvel), Lilly Cooper (The Witcher), Luna Steeples, and Hiroki Berrecloth.

The latest addition to the Hunger Games prequel, Jason Schwartzman, will play the host of the 10th Hunger Games and ancestor to Caesar Flickerman as Lucretius “Lucky” Flickerman.

The story behind the film will follow Coriolanus Snow (Blyth) as an 18-year-old before his tyranny when he gets older. He is shaken when he must Lucy Gray Baird (Zegler), the tribute from District 12. She catches attention after singing during the reaping ceremony; Snow gets an idea to benefit them both.

Francis Lawrence (The Hunger Game: Catching Fire) returns to helm another film for the young adult franchise. Michael Lesslie (Macbeth) wrote the script, building off the source material from author Suzanne Collins and Catching Fire writer Michael Arndt. Nina Jacobson, Brad Simpson, Lawrence, Collins, Tim Palen, and Jim Miller serve as executive producers.

Before joining the cast of Hunger Games, Jason Schwartzman is known for Fargo, The French Dispatch, and Rushmore. He also starred in the video game The Artful Escape with Carl Weathers and Lena Heady.

Jason Schwartzman has a busy schedule between the upcoming projects on top of the prequel to The Hunger Games. He will be in Wes Anderson’s Asteroid City with Maya Hawke, Margot Robbie, Tom Hanks, Rupert Friend, Jeff Goldblum, Bryan Cranson, Adrien Brody, Scarlett Johansson, and many more A-listers. He will also be in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse with Shameik Moore, Oscar Isaac, Hailee Steinfeld, Jorma Taccone, and more.
