Jackbox Games seems to adhere to a policy of “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” They roll out a new installment of The Jackbox Party Pack every year, and the formula has remained more or less the same since 2014. A little variation in content among the annual releases is good to keep things fresh, of course. However, the overall formula has served fans and developers well over the years. Players have come to expect a selection of wacky and often irreverent minigames to play with friends, and, like clockwork, Jackbox Games provides. A new Party Pack usually comes along each October, and this year is no exception. Today, Jackbox Games revealed the release date for The Jackbox Party Pack 9, which is coming to Steam and consoles next month.

According to today’s announcement, The Jackbox Party Pack 9 consists of five games and will feature the series’ standard remote play via an Internet connection. Many of the game’s settings options will remain the same as in previous entries. That said, this entry boasts a couple of new features of its own.
“Earlier this summer, we also announced that you’ll be able to kick players from the lobby and during the game as well. This helps keep livestreams or games being played at public events as safe as possible. This Party Pack will also allow you to connect to games via QR codes that appear on the screen in the lobby before you start a round.”
The Jackbox Party Pack 9 is coming to Steam and other platforms on October 20.
Avid Jackbox fans are likely familiar with the usual Jackbox Party Pack release cycle. There are also a handful of minigames that have more or less established themselves as series staples. One of these games is Fibbage, a trivia game that last appeared as Fibbage 3 in The Jackbox Party Pack 4. That changes this year because The Jackbox Party Pack 9 includes Fibbage 4, among other games.
You can pre-order The Jackbox Party Pack 9 on Steam before the October 20 release date. It will be available on Steam, Epic, Xbox, PlayStation, Switch, and other major platforms.
