Jackass Star Sean McInerney returns to Shark Week after his brutal shark attack last year. McInerney, better known as Poopsie, was filming a bit when he was, well, bit(ten). And it was no little nip, either. The wound was so nasty we don’t think we can show it. He had received a VERY nasty bite on his hand and wrist. As most of you know, hands and wrists are filled with nerves and arteries, and ligaments. McInerney had to undergo several surgeries and physical therapy. He also developed a pretty nasty fear of sharks, too, justifiably.
So how did he handle his injury and his trauma? By going back, of course. They don’t call these guys Jackasses for nothing. Luckily, his second session went much better and quelled some of his new fear.

“It’s really important for me to get over that fear, ’cause I don’t want that accident to stop me from doing what I love,” said McInerney, “I love the ocean, and I love surfing. I’m never gonna stop.” With his friends and colleagues diving next to him, McInerney swam with sharks in open waters. While he admitted the experience was a “little scary” and “nerve-wracking,” he seemed relieved to have shared a bite-free moment with the impressive hunters.
That is quite remarkable. We know people who have never been attacked and don’t swim in the ocean, regardless. And generally, it’s full of deadly things. So to be attacked by one of the world’s greatest predators and to have the courage to go back is unfathomable to us. Jackass Star Sean McInerney Returns to Shark Week a year after an actual shark attack, and we celebrate his bravery/stupidity.
Hell, from the sound of it, the sharks are scared of him now.
