Rappers jumping from music videos to movies is not uncommon in Hollywood. However, not all rappers share quite the same story as Jack Harlow. According to a report from Deadline, rapper Jack Harlow has landed a role in 20th Century Studios’ reboot of the 1992 comedy White Men Can’t Jump after just one stunning audition.

The reboot of this sports comedy classic for 20th Century Studios is being directed by Calmatic, most well-known for directing music videos. Some videos directed by Calmatic include Lil Nas X’s viral “Old Town Road” and Anderson Paak’s “Bubblin.” The script for the White Men Can’t Jump reboot was written by Kenya Barris and Doug Hall. This upcoming movie will present a new take on the story of two basketball hustlers who eventually team up for an even bigger score.

Jack Harlow is set to play the role first held by Woody Harrelson in the original White Men Can’t Jump. Harlow landed the role after his first-ever on-screen audition. It has been reported that he immediately won over the filmmakers and executives. As a bonus, Harlow also has some skills on the court. He recently played in the 2022 NBA All-Star Weekend’s Celebrity Game, scoring more than a few baskets.

Harrelson’s role in 1992’s White Men Can’t Jump helped take his career from TV to the movies. Considering Harlow’s impressive audition, his role in the movie may do the very same.

However, Harlow has already had an impressive career as a rapper with his viral hit “WHAT’S POPPIN” and a featured credit on Lil Nas X’s “INDUSTRY BABY.” His latest single, “Nail Tech,” is on its way up the Billboard Hot 100 and currently sits at number 18.
