Spider-Man faces a new foe in the self-titled miniseries, written by the father-son Abrams duo and drawn by Sara Pichelli (Miles Morales: Spider-Man, House of X). Executive Editor Nick Lowe elaborates on how the new villain Cadaverous compares to the rest of Spidey’s rogues gallery, stating that he’s possibly more terrifying than Green Goblin or Carnage. A few panels from the first issue have been released, showing the wall-crawler facing an armada of enemies. Furthermore, behind them trails a giant, lumbering figure in a hood and cloak. As Spider-Man stands in opposition, with Mary Jane behind him and his costume ripped and tattered as a result of his battle so far, fans know that the web warrior has his work cut out for him.

J.J. Abrams explains how closely he worked with his son on this project. From the trailer, it appears that Henry Abrams influenced his father a lot in their conversations about the titular hero. The two appear excited and passionate about the coming miniseries, with the elder Abrams saying, “this feels like it just sort of evolved from the conversations of Henry and I, having ideas that got us excited and Nick being open to the collaboration.” The father-son duo also expresses their joy at working with Sara Pichelli, who has built a library of popular works.
