Following its debut in July for eight episodes, Issa Rae will have her series Rap Sh!t renewed for season 2 on HBO Max. It was likely to happen shortly after its premiere as it received a $12 million tax credit from California to move its Miami setting to the west coast.

It stars Aida Osman (They Follow), KaMillion (After Effect), Daniel Augustin (Cake: The Series), Jonica Booth (XXI: O’Day), and RJ Cycler (Power Rangers). Created and written by Issa Rae, Rap Sh!t follows a group of women trying to make it in the music industry in the Miami area. Osman also acts as a writer for the series. It all starts when old high school friends Shawna (Osman) and Mia (Kamillion) reunite.
