Temtem shares a lot of similarities with Pokémon, another series all about capturing creatures in the wild, leveling them up, and using them to battle other Tamers. Because the two share so many traits, many players are wondering if Temtem also has EXP share. EXP share is when all party members gain experience based on what the two out fighting earn, and share with the rest of the squad.
The game does, and it doesn’t have EXP share, at least how Pokémon does it. With Pokémon, if the fighter you send out attacks and defeats an opponent’s Pokémon, all parties gain a fraction of those experience points. The main Pokémon receives the most, though, since they did most of the fighting. In Temtem, none of your non-active squad members share any experience points.
Instead, the EXP share happens between the two Temtem you have fighting against an opponent’s Temtem. When any of the opponent’s Temtem goes down, any of the Temtem you used to fight them gains experience points. It’s closer to how Pokémon first worked before EXP share had become a common thing to make leveling up an entire party of six. Now, in Temtem, if you want any of your lower level Temtem to level up, you need to throw them in the first two slots. You always use two Temtem during a battle, unless you walk around with only one Temtem in your party.
It’s not a big deal if you want to level up two Temtem that are lower level. They cover each other and have one another’s back during a fight to make it easier. You can even throw out a higher-level Temtem with you a lower level one to make sure they always win and continually gain experience points. Because you have a higher level Temtem, though, it could take a bit longer.ow, in Temtem, if you want any of your lower level Temtem to level up, you need to throw them in the first two slots. You always use two Temtem during a battle, unless you walk around with only one Temtem in your party.
The only EXP share that does happen is when you acquire the Coward’s Cloak. You can give it to your Temtem to wear so they can earn experience when they’re not in battle. It doesn’t expand to the entire party, but it gives an additional share of experience points to a third Temtem.
At the end of the day, no, Temtem does not have an EXP share system in place, beyond the Coward’s Cloak. If you want to level up lower-level members of your squad, you need to place them at the first two slots or give them the cloak. You always fight with two Temtem, so those two share experience points, but none of your other Temtem squadmates receive any unless you bring them out to compete.
