Rumors recently started swirling that Nintendo would cease production of the Wii U as soon as early-November.  A report from Eurogamer revealed that multiple sources close to the matter had confirmed the news, but apparently Nintendo is denying the claims.

“There is no change to our continuing Wii U production,” claims a Nintendo spokesperson.  They explain to IT Media that the rumors are simply “not true.”  The spokesperson goes on to say that “Even though the Nintendo Switch is slated to go on sale, Wii U production is scheduled to continue.”

On the other hand, Nintendo has no reason to come out and announce that they would be discontinuing the console just ahead of the all-important holiday sales season.  The Wii U will eventually be discontinued, it appears that it’s just a matter of when.

The Nintendo Switch is slated to arrive early next year and we could expect that Nintendo will cease producing Wii U consoles sometime after.
