In a shocking move, developer and publisher Square Enix revealed the next major installment in the Kingdom Hearts series with Kingdom Hearts 4. The initial trailer shows Sora waking up in a world that looks eerily similar to ours. But is it?
Kingdom Hearts 4 takes place in Quadratum, which is based on and also called Shibuya. Shibuya is a popular district within Tokyo, Japan. So, while residents of the bustling metropolis shouldn’t expect any Heartless outside their shops, they will be able to enjoy a recreation of the ward within the game.
Quadratrum first appeared in Kingdom Hearts 3. Riku dreams of the city and Sora is transported to it at the end of the title. It also appears in Kingdom Hearts Melody of Memory and Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance. Not much is known about the in-game portrayal of the famous ward, but it appears to be a faithful recreation. Seeing how the powers of the Heartless and the mighty keyblade clash within reality will be quite the sight to see, virtual or not.
