After three years since its release, fans are waiting for a Death Stranding sequel game. There were many rumors about this possible game, and the one about Stadia is one of the most interesting. Some leakers claimed that there was a planned Stadia exclusive Death Stranding sequel, but it got canceled. Leakers also say the game was canceled by Google Stadia’s General Manager Phil Harrison. This was a confusing theory stuck in our minds, but it finally got an answer. Kojima gave the response on his podcast, and now everything gets clear.
Death Stranding was one of the greatest games of 2019. Kojima Productions developed the game, and the famous game designer Hideo Kojima is the game’s lead designer. We often hear new rumors and leaks about the possible upcoming sequel to Death Stranding, which isn’t confirmed officially. Some say it’s on the way, and others say it got canceled. But at least we know if it’s canceled by Stadia or not.
Death Stranding Sequel Isn’t Canceled by Stadia
The statement was made on his podcast Brain Structure’s 10th episode. He’s aware of that news, and he rejects the speculations:
“The rumor that Death Stranding, moreover a sequel, was in the works to be an exclusive title for Google is unfounded, and Phil Harrison ultimately rejecting that is quite impossible. I’ve never once said anything to Phil about wanting to create a Death Stranding sequel. I don’t know who pulled this information, [or] from where.”
His words are enough to understand the situation. Death Stranding 2 was never planned with Google, and even if it exists, it’s a separate project. If we consider that Google Stadia is getting closed, it’s even less heartbreaking. We might play a sequel on PC and new-generation consoles. It’s known Kojima Productions is working on two games, but it’s unknown if it’s Death Stranding 2.
