Pokémon Legends: Arceus features 242 Pokémon in its roster, including mythical and legendary Pokémon. That means of the roughly 900 total existing Pokémon didn’t make it into the game. Only a selection of Pokemon from each generation—and all of the Pokemon from the fourth generation—made the cut, leaving fans whose favorite Pokémon didn’t make it into the game feeling betrayed.
Unfortunately, Charmander and its evolutions are not in Pokémon Legends: Arceus. Charmander is arguably the best Fire-starter in all of Pokémon. The firey lizard-like creature holds a special place in everyone’s heart, and it eventually evolves into the extremely powerful Charizard. Players have always worked to get a Charmander in every Pokémon games because of its final evolution’s capabilities.
Interestingly enough, Pokémon Legends: Arceus is actually the first mainline game in the series to not feature any of the starters from the first generation. This means that Squirtle and Bulbasaur are also not in the game. However, it’s not all bad news. As for the fans who count Pikachu and Eevee as first-generation starters, both of them are in Pokémon Legends: Arceus.
It is strange that none of the three main first-generation starters made it into the game, especially with how popular all of them have remained through the series’ eight-generation timeline. At least it will give other Pokémon a chance in the spotlight.
