The beta for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 launched on the 16th of September following a lengthy reveal. The game will be releasing on the 28th of October to a lot of hype since it will serve as a direct sequel to 2019’s beloved Modern Warfare. The reveal and beta showed fans the improvements in the game, ranging from gameplay to graphical fidelity. One question that many fans have been wondering is whether or not will the game be coming out on Xbox’s Game Pass. $70 is quite a bit of money, and following Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision-Blizzard, many people are under the impression that Modern Warfare 2 will launch on Game Pass. Here we will cover MW2’s status on Game Pass.

Will Modern Warfare 2 Release On Game Pass?

While one would not be at fault for believing MW2 will be on Game Pass, it is not true. Despite the massive acquisition, the deal is set to be finalised in June 2023 due to legal reasons. Until then, every Activision-Blizzard game will have to be purchased for full price.

While this may dishearten many, it will be safe to assume that Modern Warfare 2 will appear on Game Pass the day the acquisition is finalised. Since Call of Duty has halted yearly releases of their games temporarily and will be outputting the instalment following Modern Warfare 2 in 2024, those who choose to wait till the deal closes will still get time aplenty with Modern Warfare 2 on Game Pass.

Since Game Pass won’t have MW2, a good way to decide whether or not to purchase the game would be to try the public beta. Another option would be to wait for a free weekend which Activision usually does a few weeks after release. These two methods can be a great way of testing out the game for yourself and deciding to purchase or not.

This concludes will MW2 be on Game Pass.
