The recent issue of DCeased: War of the Undead Gods shows an infected Darkseid taking the head of one of DC’s more powerful villains, Sinestro. The issue, from writer Tom Taylor, continues to dive into a DC Universe that is ravaged by a virus outbreak.

An Infected Darkseid and Other Gods.

Within the pages of DCeased: War of the Undead Gods, more and more heroes, and villains are being turned by the Anti-Life Virus. According to CBR, after Darkseid attempts to unlock the Anti-Life Equation, he ends up cursing this world with the zombie-like virus. As the saga comes to a close, it is revealed that Darkseid and other gods from New Genesis are also infected. They are shown wreaking havoc and mass destruction across the universe.

What Happens In The Issue?

In the second issue, out this week, longtime Green Lantern foe Sinestro learns of Darkseid’s rampage. Therefore, he gathers the Yellow Lantern Corps and leads them on a mission to prevent the infected Darkseid from destroying Korugar. With some last-minute help from Kyle Rayner and Soranik Natu (Sinestro’s daughter), the Corps is successful. However, an infected Supergirl soon arrives and infects the entire Warworld with the Anti-Life Virus.

If that isn’t bad enough, the infected Darkseid immediately rises and retaliates against the Yellow Lantern Corps. Sinestro and his daughter hold him off, but Supergirl intervenes and allows Darkseid to snatch Sinestro. The infected villain then decapitates  Sinestro in from of his daughter. However, the soon-to-be-headless father gives Soranik one last message, “Run…I need you to live…you can free Korug-“.

Horrified, Soranik and Kyle flee to gather reinforcements. As they escape, the infected Darkseid picks up the Yellow Power Ring and puts it on. He then proclaims that “Everything fears the end of life” as the issue comes to a close.
