The COVID-19 pandemic has affected countless movie and TV productions – and Indiana Jones 5 is among them.
What was previously thought to hit the silver screen in July 2021 has recently been shifted to July 29, 2022. This means fans will have to wait a full two years until they can see Harrison Ford with Indy’s iconic fedora and bullwhip for the last time.
In a recent interview with the pop culture website Collider, producer Frank Marshall explained that the writing process “has just started”. He then continued to emphasize the safety of the people working on the film while mentioning that we won’t see a lot of “big crowd scenes” in a while:
It’s perhaps surprising to hear that writing has only just begun for Indiana Jones 5, especially since Harrison Ford claimed that he read a script that was “very good” and had “new developments in [Indiana Jones’] life, his relationship”, while also resolving “part of his history.” Had he only read an outline at that point? Or has that alleged script been ditched in favor of a whole new story? It’s unclear at this point.
Ultimately though, it’s important that everyone keep safe, whether that means Indiana Jones 5 comes later or not.
