At the PC Gaming Show today we got our first look at Icarus, the next game from the creator of DayZ, Dean Hall.
Icarus has players working alone or with friends to chop trees, erect structures, hunt animals, and gather resources to achieve their goal for each particular mission. The catch with this survival game? It takes place on an alien planet, and players start their missions, or “drops,” by speeding from space down to the surface.
Icarus Presents an Unforgiving World
With each drop, players have a limited amount of time before they have to meet at a rendezvous point to get back off-planet. These drops vary in length, with some being as short as 20 minutes. As you and your friends play, you’ll unlock lengthier missions, some of which can last multiple days. If a player were to run out of oxygen halfway through a drop, a teammate could revive them. Miss your ride out and you lose, however, so players will have to have an exit strategy on each of their drops.
Icarus is slated to come out sometime next year according to Hall, and will be free to play.
Hall also appeared at the PC Gaming Show in 2015 to talk about Ion.
