GL Bunko announced Tuesday that Inori’s I’m in Love with the Villainess light novel series is receiving a 2023 anime adaptation. Hideki Oba (Love of Kill) will direct the anime at Platinum Vision studio (Servamp, Devil’s Line). The series will star Yu Serizawa as Rae Taylor and Karin Nanami as Claire Francois.
Seven Seas Entertainment has licensed the light novels. The company released the final fifth volume on October 11th. Currently, the story for I’m in Love with the Villainess is;
Ordinary office worker Oohashii Rei wakes up in the body of the protagonist of her favorite otome name, Revolution. To her delight, her favorite character, Clair Francois, is the first person to greet her. However! Claire is the antagonist of the story! Now, Rei is determined to romance Claire instead of the game’s male leads. But how will her villainous lady love react to this new courtship?
I’m in Love With the Villainess: A Loved Yuri Light Novel
Inori first launched the series on the Shosetsuka ni Naro website in January 2018. GL Bunko began publishing the story in digital volumes, with the first volume in February 2019. The last volume was published in August 2021.
AONOSHIMO launched a manga adaption of I’m in Love with the Villainess in Ichijinsha’s Comic Yuri Hime magazine in 2020. Ichijinsha also published the manga’s fourth compiled book volume on June 17th. The company will publish the compiled fifth volume on December 16th. Seven Seas Entertainment is also publishing the novel in English, with the third volume being released on September 27th.
Inori also launched a spinoff story titled Heimin no Kuse ni Namaikina! on the same platform. GL Bunko is also releasing that story in digital novel volumes on February 28th. Currently, Seven Seas has also licensed the novel spinoff and has titled it I’m in Love with the Villainess Spin-Off: She’s so Cheeky for a Commoner.
Currently, there is no release timeline for the I’m in Love with the Villainess anime.
