Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity just showcased a big helping of gameplay. Developer Koei Tecmo unveiled a 13-minute-long showcase at the Tokyo Game Show on Saturday. The majority of the gameplay shows Link’s combat capabilities, but it also revealed a new warrior. Impa, everyone’s favorite Sheikah, will be playable.

This doesn’t come as a huge surprise considering Impa’s legacy throughout The Legend of Zelda. There’s also the fact that she was one of the starting fighters in the Wii U’s Hyrule Warriors. But this is a very different version than the one seen in Koei Tecmo’s previous game, yet one we’ve met before. As this game ties directly into 2017’s Breath of the Wild, we know that this Impa will grow into a steadfast ally of Link 100 years later. You can check out all 13 minutes of gameplay, including the reveal, below.

New Gameplay for Hyrule Warriors

Link’s Master Sword attacks don’t look too different from those seen in Hyrule Warriors. He slices, dices, and executes a massive Spin Attack as a special move. There are a few key elements brought in from Breath of the Wild though, such as shield surfing and perfect dodging, that will keep things interesting. After meeting Impa, Link gains access to the Sheikah Slate. We see him use an ice platform to attack enemies from above as well as hurl numerous Sheikah bombs.

Impa’s reveal also introduces a miniature Guardian, but we don’t know the full extent of this Guardian’s role in the game. However, it appears in the game’s official artwork, so it likely plays a huge part. As for Impa’s gameplay, the showcase makes her look incredibly enticing. She fights like a ninja, able to teleport similar to members of the Yiga Clan in Breath of the Wild. She can also create shadow versions of herself to attack multiple foes and glide using a paraglider.
