Certain abilities give players an edge in battle, as without them, you’ll take huge chunks of damage from enemies, especially those pesky Guardians. Well, unless you have the Hyrulian Shield to instant deflect their beams!

Hyrule Warriors Age of Calamity How to Parry

To parry in Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity, you have to play as a character that can parry, such as Link. As you play as Link, hold the Block button, which is LZ, and then press Y, the weak attack button, to parry. This will deflect attacks and beams if the timing is perfect.

For those not sure what parrying is, it basically deflects oncoming attacks and leaves the attacker vulnerable for a few seconds, where you can attack them without reprise. It’s a handy skill to master. Just hold the Block button, which is LZ, and then press Y, the weak attack button, to parry. However, the timing has to be perfect, unless you’re going to miss the chance to parry and you’ll take damage. Parrying is a risk-reward scenario.

Guardians are one of the main cruxes of Breath of the Wild’s world, so you can even reflect the energy beams fired by Guardians; however, this timing window has to be absolutely perfect, or you are going to take a massive chunk of damage. Although if you manage to pull it off, you’ll reflect the beam right back at the Guardian, causing it to take a chunk of damage instead!

At the moment, only Link can parry, but as you play as other characters, just attempt to parry and see what happens!

Parrying in Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity is pretty much exactly the same as for those who have played Zelda: Breath of the Wild, so if you have played that amazing game, you’re no doubt already a master at parrying! Though in Age of Calamity, Parrying is only really beneficial against Guardians, it’s almost always better to use a Flurry Rush against normal enemies!

Pausing mid-game is now not the way to heal, so no stuffing your face full of an assortment of food! Weapons will not break in Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity, which has undoubtedly brought cheers to the Zelda community!
