This was my first microphone!

What about you?  Remember when this was the coolest thing? I thought this microphone was awesome!  And some people still use them and that’s okay!

HyperX QuadCast S Standalone USB Microphone Specifications:

About the HyperX QuadCast S:

RGB Lighting:

The RGB lighting is one of the main differences between this microphone and the HyperX QuadCast.  If you already own the HyperX QuadCast and RGB lighting is not something important to you, an upgrade may not be warranted.

But, if RGB lighting is something you like, the customizable, gradient-like lighting on this microphone is definitely a perk. The lights look really cool!

The HyperX NGENUITY software enables you to personalize RGB lighting and effects.

Connectivity/Patterns:

The HyperX QuadCast S connects with a USB-C to USB-A cable.

The four polar patterns that are available with this microphone help to optimize your setup allowing you to make sure you capture the desired sound.

Stereo, omnidirectional, cardioid, and bidirectional are the four choices. The polar pattern selection knob located on the side of the microphone makes it very easy to switch between the four patterns.

Controls and LED indicators:

You will find a tap-to-mute sensor with an LED status indicator on the very top of the microphone. The sensor gives you a convenient way to quickly mute whenever necessary and the LED indicator will make sure you know when your microphone is on.

Located at the bottom of the HyperX QuadCast S microphone is a gain control adjustment dial to control the sensitivity.

Mounts/Filters/Headphone Jacks:

The HyperX QuadCast S comes with a built-in anti-vibration shock mount. This shock mount is bolted on and keeps the noise of unexpected bumps, external vibrations, or other similar types of unwanted sound from affecting your stream or recording.

Other Features of the HyperX QuadCast S USB Microphone:

The mount adaptor shows versatility by fitting 3/8-inch and 5/8-inch threaded setups which makes it compatible with most microphone stands or boom arms.

The microphone also includes an internal pop filter which helps with plosives (p-, t-, k- sounds).  The pop filter was not as effective if you were in close proximity to your microphone.

A headphone jack is also available on the microphone which might be useful in monitoring how it sounds.

Compatibility:

The HyperX QuadCast S is compatible with PC, PS4, or Mac and it is Discord and TeamSpeak Certified. Streamlabs OBS, OBS Studio, and XSplit are also compatible with this microphone.

HyperX QuadCast S Standalone USB Microphone Verdict

With the amazing lights and sound features, this microphone turned out to be another great product by HyperX. The complaints are few and the price is fairly comparable to other similar microphones.

I like the mounting, the placement of the cables, jacks, and ports and the convenience of the tap-to-mute button is great! And it looks incredibly cool with the RGB lighting!
