A new Humanoid graphic novel is helping to raise funds for the crisis in Ukraine. CBR exclusively reveals that part of the profits from Makhno: Ukrainian Freedom Fighter will be donated to Razom. This is a Ukrainian nonprofit organization currently supplying medical aid to fighters on the front line.

What is this Humanoids Graphic Novel About?

Makhno: Ukrainian Freedom Fighter comes from Miss: Better Living Through Crime writer Philippe Thirault. Also working on the project is artist Roberto Zaghi, known for his work on Tex Willer. The graphic novel tells the true story of Ukrainian anarchist Nestor Makhno. In addition, he was Commander of the Revolutionary Insurgent Army of Ukraine in the 1900s.

An official synopsis for the book calls Makhno one of the “most heroic and colorful figures of the Russian Revolution.” For example, he helped his people find and embrace social and economic self-determination. This new graphic novel tells his story and how he helped protect his homeland.

Where is the Money Going?

Humanoids states that a portion of the proceeds for the graphic novel will raise funds for Ukraine. Specifically, the proceeds will be sent to Razom to help support Ukrainian relief efforts. Mark Waid, a publisher for Humanoids, is proud to be a part of the fight for Ukraine’s freedom. He says that the company represents “the spirit of Nestor Makhno” by aiding the Ukrainian fight. Therefore, they have chosen to donate to “the organization working most directly with the freedom fights happening today”; Razom.

Razom, Ukrainian for “together,” formed out of the Revolution of Dignity in 2014. This was when the citizens banded together to build a better future for Ukraine. Razom’s mission is to help build a prosperous and democratic Ukraine for its citizens. Since its inception, the charity has established a network of volunteers and partners making a difference. In fact, its mission has reached beyond the country’s borders. Today, many in America are fighting to help Ukraine gain more freedoms.
