Map knowledge is key in a team-based FPS shooter like Battlefield 2042, and knowing how to read the terrain should become second nature to players. Knowing how to view the map, marking enemies, finding proper vantage points, all these basic factors are a good place to start if anyone is new to the world of Battlefield.

Keeping an eye on the map becomes exceedingly crucial in a massive sandbox environment like Battlefield. This is why players need to know exactly how to bring it up and navigate towards better locations.

Map Keybinds

For PC players, the option to bring up the map while you’re on the field is M. For Xbox users, simply click on Options to view the map. PlayStation users can access the map by pressing the touchpad. Enter the map quickly, and try to conceptualize everything through the minimap.

The minimap has always been the best way to identify threats quickly without entering the actual map in-game. In Battlefield 2042, the minimap tells players which sector they are currently fighting in. The color scheme on the minimap allows you to see targets easily and push through towards a better cover.

Visit the in-game settings and change how you want the map to look in-game. Players can change the background opacity and camera rotations for the minimap.
